Flower Assemblage

October 7, 2014

Sneak peak of collage/assemblage work for an upcoming show…

pic1 pic2 pic3

I sometimes forget the sheer joy that comes from arranging a mixture of found objects, odds an ends, and leftover trinkets from other projects to tell a whole new story within a piece of art.

Stay tuned soon for the finished projects.

Making the Cover

July 23, 2014

I wanted to share some exciting news. A piece of my artwork is currently gracing the Summer 2014 cover of “Upside – Downtown” a local magazine showcasing Lakeland’s people, places and events.

I also thought you might enjoy learning how this all came about. It began a few months ago when a friend and I attended a workshop on creating dream boards…also know as a vision board. The class was being offered by artist extraordinaire e’Layne Koenigsberg of Art by e’Layne.

I’d heard of dream boards, and I’m forever writing down my thoughts, creative ideas, and wishes for the future, but this was something different. The objective of e’Layne’s workshop was to set a visual intention for the future. A piece of art, a pictorial representation of our heart and souls desires and what we wanted to manifest in the future.

Well, I’m here to say, it works!!! Several intentions on my dream board have come to fruition, three to be exact…and one of them was having a piece of my artwork published on the cover of a magazine.

So, I’m pretty sure this will become a yearly ritual for me. It’s certainly a fun and creative way to continue moving toward my dreams and aspirations. Next time, however, I plan is to dream “bigger” and possibly add a few things that may be a real stretch…just to see what happens. 🙂 Wish me luck!

Gelli Plate Thank-You Card

June 22, 2014

I’m finding my Gelli Plate to be a wonderful asset in my collection of art making tools. I use it to start a background for many things. Paintings, Collage, Atc’s, and lately for making Thank you cards.

It’s a great jumping off point. I can get so many colors and textures in one swoop. Love it!!

Here’s an example…Step One

Add some paint, texture with bubble wrap then lay down card stock.

 Step Two- Front of Card

Add more complimentary paper made with the gelli plate, an old stamp, fabric, washi tape etc…

Step Three – Back of Card

Add more paper, new and vintage then added “with love” a cool rubber stamp purchased at Michael’s, I believe.

This thank you note was sent to a fellow artist.

My Muse

January 28, 2014

A new painting I’ve been working on for awhile.

She’s my Muse…

I started working on her several weeks ago as part of an online class. It’s a mixed media piece with multiple layers of various mediums.

She appears to be a bit weary and overwhelmed. I’ve been told to put it aside for awhile and come back to her later, which I will honor.

I’ve become intrigued with her slow development and don’t want to rush her completion. I did, however, want to share her.

Please share any thoughts you may have about this muse.

Week Four – Journey

January 25, 2014

My Artful Journey…

It’s a bit monochromatic, and not the best scan, but it’s done.

Bird of different style.

January 22, 2014

Trying something new…

A bird of a different style is the title of this post. Why? Mainly because it’s a little stronger from my usual color palette and style.

Not sure if I like it or not. Some parts I do, others, not quite sure of yet. Is it the boldness of the colors the addition of the black???

What do you think??

Trying new techniques and playing with various mediums is my goal in 2014.

Constructive honest opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much for reading.

First Post in 2014

January 19, 2014

I wanted to post some cards that were made for a Facebook group (art aMUSEment), started by friend and fellow artist Kelly Hoernig.

We’re making a different card each week for the year 2014. Every Monday Kelly posts a new word… our weekly prompt. I enjoy being part of a project like this, it’s a challenge, and forces me to create even if I’m “not really feeling it”.

Week One:  Box

Week Two:  Postage

Week Three:  Artist

Having fun…thanks Kelly. 🙂

Thanks for stopping by and reading my blog.

Collage Obsession – A Quote

November 18, 2013

This week’s challenge for Collage Obsession…A Quote.

It just so happens that this month I have been posting daily on Facebook; Thought for today…

Last year in the November I posted a month of thanks. This year I wanted to do something a little more creative. Most of these pieces started with an element of my own artwork. I then digitally added more layers using Picmonkey.  And of course, the quote themselves belong to others.

Here are just a few.

Thanks so much for visiting.
