Oh boy, the show season is about to begin and I haven’t had much time to create new works of art. I will however, be offering a few smaller pieces that were really fun to make.
I call them collage mini’s and they were created using scrap paper leftover from larger projects. See, I prefer to use paper as the background for most of my paintings. To me, it adds more interest and texture.
I also like to incorporate many types of paper, old and new. Some of my favorites are old dictionary pages, sheet music, vintage pattern paper, like Butterwick and Simplicity, as well as, old journal logs. Then I mix them with a variety of new papers, such as scrapbook, tissue, and handmade.
I started these with a 3″ x 4″ solid wood block and then applied several pieces of paper to each one. I also added other imagery and type for a more inviting design. They’ re small, but I think hanging all six of them together would make a unique one-of-a kind grouping. The butterfly and bird are a little different and can stand on their own.
If you happen to live in the local area please stop by the Fall Market & Craft Bazaar this Saturday. It’s an event the whole family can enjoy. Please go to the link below for more information.
