This is the first lesson I’ve had time to do for Soul Food 2015.
It was taught by artist Heather Santos.
The images below show the progression of my project.
Collage a blank 8″ x 10″ wooden cradle board with paper scraps using Mod Podge.
Randomly add acrylic paint in shades of blue and green.
Add marks using a pencil and rubber stamps. White was then added to bring it all together and tone it down.
More white was added to tone it down even further.
The bird and quote was added, as well as, some color I covered up in the last image. That’s the beauty of mixed media. I can keep adding layers until I’m happy. 🙂
Then it was time for the word “FLY” and the crackle medium. Love crackle medium!
The finished piece…I’m really digging the fine crackle look achieved by using One Step Crackle from DecoArt.
